Beauty surprises from thePinkPanel

Every now and then I get sent beauty samples to review, and while I do end up falling in love of some of the products, most of the time they were complete misses, so I don’t even bother reviewing them -_-

This time, I was sent 3 beauty samples from thePinkPanel, and while the Nailtini nail polish was a total flop1, the other 2 ended up being delightful surprises :)

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 anti-aging primer with sunscreen (spf 50)

I’m not a fan of Western sunscreen formulas – they’re sticky, oily, and leave a whitish film. Gross much? -_- But this one was nothing like that:

the formula reminds me of the Smashbox Photofinish Primer, but slightly thicker

  1. It leaked all over the package, and the color was very average. Bleh.

May favorites roundup

I believe the last time I did a Beauty Favorites post was back in 2010 o_o Since this blog focuses more on just beauty products, I figured I’d do a roundup of my favorite products/items across multiple categories:

Style

pieces from BaubleBox, DailyLook, and Forever 21

pieces from BaubleBox, DailyLook, and Forever 21

  • I’ve recently become a huge fan of gold toned pieces – they just seem more fitting for the summer :)
  • Forever 21 is always a great place to find inexpensive pieces, but I’ve been loving the selection and quality at BaubleBox as well!

Home Decor

  • If it wasn’t clear enough in my previous posts, I’ve been loving candles lately – especially fruity summery scents!
  • Whimsical trays and dishes are great for storage and decorating. My favorite is the antique tray I bought from the thrift store for $15!

Cherry blossom pink

So packing + moving + unpacking has been a pain in the butt, as expected, so thank goodness I have my parents to help me out :) We’re finally getting close to cleaning out the old house, so hopefully we’ll be able to take a break from this and go explore DC a bit – particularly go see the Cherry Blossoms :)

And of course, one of the first thing that comes to mind when going Cherry Blossom sight seeing is what am I going to wear? Seeing as most of my clothes are still in boxes, I’ve planned one out using Style In View:

cherry blossom pink

When I think of cherry blossoms, the words pink, feminine, and romantic come to mind. But too much pink would be an overkill, so I’ve added black pieces to balance out the girliness, and keep it season appropriate. Hopefully the weather warms up soon enough so that I could actually wear a dress soon!

What plans do you have for the spring? Do share!

Recent accessory obsession: bracelets

Ok, so maybe this wasn’t a recent obsession, but I have been finding myself wearing bracelets more often nowadays. In the past I’d only wear one bracelet at a time, but quickly that look got old…and boring :P It’s always more fun when you layer pieces, no?

mixing & matching bracelets

Mixing and matching bracelets to create unique styles

The more I started mixing and matching my jewelry, the more I realized, you don’t need a lot of different pieces to create different looks! I switched out one piece from the ensemble above, and now I have something a little less dainty, a little more edgy:

I switched the pink & silver charm bracelet for the flower beaded bracelet

The second thing I learned is when it comes to layering, costume jewelry plays much better with each other than expensive pieces, not to mention they’re much more affordable. One of my favorite places to shop for those pieces is Old Navy – they have some seriously cute jewelry!

Lastly, and probably irrelevant, is that I still prefer silver jewellery to gold jewelry. I’ve definitely been more open to the latter now, and even accumulated a few pieces, but I just find silver jewelry much easier to match with my clothes :P

What recent accessory obsessions do you have? Are you a fan of mixing and matching jewelry? Do let me know :)

I love perfume tag

First off, for those of you who celebrate the Lunar New Year: Happy Year of the Snake! :D Ok, so I’ve been pretty bad with my blogging more consistently New Year’s resolution, but I’ve been stuck lately on what to write. Thankfully I saw an “I love perfume” tag at sleepandwater‘s blog, and as a fan of perfumes, I can’t believe I hadn’t written about this topic before! So here we go:
