My candles collection & BBW haul

I know I mentioned before that I preferred wax melts to candles, and while I still use my wax warmer regularly, nothing creates a relaxing atmosphere like a lovely smelling candle :) And since Bath and Body Works’ candles are ridiculously expensive (when not on sale), I ended up purchasing my first candle at Marshall’s:

Marshall's - $4.99

Tropical Paradise – Marshall’s – $4.99

I fell in love with the gorgeous pattern on the jar *_* And it’s a perfect fit with my dresser! Scent wise, it’s not bad for a 1-wick candle. Given my first experience with Marshall’s candles, I purchased another one a few weeks later:

Planning my dream bedroom

Hi everyone, hope you all had a lovely weekend :)

I recently got a notice in the mail saying that the settlement date for my new home has been set on March 19th, which is in less than 2 months :D This definitely came as a surprise because the builders initially told me that it wasn’t going to be completed until early April. With that date set, I decided it was time to plan out the rooms of the new place, one of them being the master bedroom :3

Project Zero: my first attempt at refinishing furniture

Remember when I shared some of the great DIY ideas I found on Pinterest? Well I finally got the time to try out refinishing furniture, and thankfully, with no sanding involved :) I chose the ugly shelf in my room as my guinea pig:

I HATE that honey colored wood. And it doesn’t match with the rest of my furniture, which is in espresso.

Since I’ve never painted furniture before, I just bought the same primer and paint as Emily did:

  • Zinsser Cover Stain Primer – 1 quart
  • Berh custom match paint1 in Semi-Gloss finish – 1 quart

DIY inspirations from Pinterest

I’ve been really in DIY home decor since I started living on my own, but so far the only thing I’ve really done are the silk flower arrangements :/ Determined to change that, I’ve been browsing Pinterest for ideas, and here are a couple I’ve put on my to-do list:

I’ve been hunting for a cake stand to use as my nail polish display, but no luck so far :( Maybe it’ll just be easier, and cheaper, if I made it instead!

I plan on cutting places I’ve been1, with a little note in the back on when I visited and why it was special :)

Decor inspiration: bookshelves and bookcases

I know I don’t talk about books much, but I actually love to read and have a lot of books myself. In the past I’d just stack the books side-by-side on a bookcase, and try to fit as many books on a shelf as possible. Though an efficient use of space, it’s not very pretty. I recently purchased a smaller 3-shelf bookcase from Target for my living area, and I’ve been looking up inspirations on Pinterest on how to decorate it:

I love the idea of adding frames and flowers.
