DIY inspirations from Pinterest

I’ve been really in DIY home decor since I started living on my own, but so far the only thing I’ve really done are the silk flower arrangements :/ Determined to change that, I’ve been browsing Pinterest for ideas, and here are a couple I’ve put on my to-do list:

Mirrored cake stand using candle holders from the dollar store Source

I’ve been hunting for a cake stand to use as my nail polish display, but no luck so far :( Maybe it’ll just be easier, and cheaper, if I made it instead!

I plan on cutting places I’ve been1, with a little note in the back on when I visited and why it was special :)

Refinishing furniture without sanding! Source

I’ve always wanted to refinish furniture but the idea of sanding them seemed too troublesome, so I never bothered. But now that no sanding is required, I’m going to try refinishing this old shelf in my room this weekend :D

scrapbook paper and dollar store frames

I love wall art, but paintings and what note are usually quite expensive :( I have lots of scrapbook paper already, so all I need are some dollar store frames for this!

Again, something that can easily be done with scrapbook paper and the end result is not only adorable, but also very affordable :)

I think all we do in my house is DIY decor, but failed attempts. My mom is not very good at homey things and I inherited that from her. I think we like being the men who are in charge of working, haha. Regardless, I always love the ideas you share but never seem to get to them on my own. Just look at that chest of drawers!

Well, at least I can say we refurbished our whole house when we moved in. Replaced the floors, windows, bathrooms, and kitchen.

Lol, practice makes perfect! My mom and I were never the DIY-type of people (except for putting together IKEA furniture, but that doesn’t count), but now I’m doing more DIY decor and my mom’s taken up sewing, so you never know :P

I’m always amazed when I hear of people refurbishing their bathrooms or kitchens, because it seems like a lot of work! That’s awesome that you guys did that!

The maps idea is really cute! I like that they’re cut into hearts :) I’ve been wanting to do something similar to the scrapbook paper one. I have a lot of pretty origami paper that I’d really like to get frames for.

I’ve been wanting to do more DIY decor for our house because it really gives a personal feel. I’ve already hung up some of my photographs and paintings, but I think it’d be fun to put something crafty together :)

I agree, not to mention DIY decors are always one of a kind ;) That’s awesome that you paint and take pictures, those would make great wall art!

Pinterest is definitely a great source for both inspiration and depression. There are so many great DIY things that you can make/create/do that you feel incredibly guilty whenever you are unable to make/create/do something. :P Well, at least, I feel incredibly guilty. Have fun with all of your home decorating ideas!

Haha, I agree. Imagine all the money you could save if you made all those things yourself!

If you check out the source for the furniture diy, the author will share with you which products she used instead of sanding. I was able to find everything you mentioned at my local Home Depot :)
