Week 1: Assassin’s Creed II, Shark Tank, and macarons

Though I officially finished my exams last Friday, it feels like I’ve been done for over a week! From today, I’ll have 3 more weeks before I officially start working. So asides from studying1, this is what I’ve been up to the past week:

Assassin’s Creed II

This was an accident. I meant to buy the first one, but when I got home and started playing, I realized I bought 2 instead. No big deal, as this game turned out to be friggin awesome. I love the graphics and the details – I find myself walking around just to check out the buildings and people! I also like how you have to solve puzzles and mysteries, so it’s not just a button mashing game. Of course, that’s not to say the fighting part isn’t fun either, though I’m still trying to get a hang of the jumping technique.

Totally badass. I can't believe I didn't start playing till now!

Highly recommend this game for people who want a bit of everything: rpg, puzzles, and fighting.

New York City, revisited

I went back to NYC this weekend for my friend’s birthday, and of course, how could I not stop at Laduree for some macarons? They were still having the Hello Kitty edition boxes, so I got my friend that for her birthday, as well as a 24-piece box for myself2. Except this time I controlled myself and didn’t eat them all in one day so I could finally take a picture :D

My favorite flavors are salted caramel, rose petals, and praline

I also got to try shwarma for the first time, and it turned out to be really good! I had falafels before, but I didn’t like it much. I expected shwarma to be the same, but it ended up being a lot better. I knew Ironman’s suggestions3 had to be good :P

Shark Tank

Both Gossip Girl and The Big Bang Theory ended their current season and no new episodes are expected until September. So instead I’ve been watching Shark Tank, which is about hopeful entrepreneurs that come and pitch their business ideas to these self-made billion/millionaires in hope of getting them to invest. While watching the investors shit on crappy business ideas is hilarious, I also find this show to be quite educational. Some of the business ideas/products are really amazing, and it’s always nice to see an “update” on a business that’s been pitched in past episodes. Makes me want to start my own business!

  1. More like attempting to study and failing =w=
  2. Well, technically my boyfriend bought that for me
  3. Anyone who watched The Avengers would know what I’m talking about

Goodness, salted caramel? That sounds amazing~
To be honest I’ve never had a macaron before. I must rectify this. .D.

But I’ve had shwarma! Had some recently, too. Have you seen the Avengers? My friends and I went out for shwarma after Tony Stark suggested he and all the other superheroes have some. LOL!

Yes, I saw The Avengers just last week, which is exactly why we got some shwarma when we were in NYC :P I bet shwarma sales are skyrocketing now because of the movie!

  • http://seekliza.me/ Liza

I don’t really play video games. :P Haha.

Macarons. >.> I always thought they were ‘macarOOns’ and/or that the extra “O” didn’t matter. :P Because no matter what I would search, both would come up with the same pictures. :P I just recently learned the difference. D; Blah. I have to redo an entire deck on my TCG because of it. I really want to try some, though. :3

I wish I could find a place that sold them here. How much are they there? I don’t even know what a decent price would be on them. P: On Etsy, they’re all ~$20 + $12 s/h. Blah.

Laduree macarons definitely aren’t cheap. They’re around $2.50 to $3 a piece, depending on the box size you purchase. My 24-piece was $64 :/

I love AC2! I’m actually playing AC: Brotherhood right now :3 It took me 2 tries to finish AC1 because I didn’t like it. After I beat AC2, I forced myself to go back to AC1 and rushed through it. I’d say AC1 is skippable XD ;; AC2 is a ton better!

Salted caramel is one of my favorite macaron flavors too :D Your photo is making me crave some!

Ahhh, macarons! I wish there was a place nearby where I could get them, since I’m too lazy/kitchen-inept to try making my own. They look delicious!

I’ve never had macarons or sharma, but after the avengers I wanted to try it too xD they surely boosted their business xD I’ve never played assassin’s creed II, I tried playing the first one on Xbox and being a Playstation native I had a hard time adjusting the buttons clockwise. I may pick it up again before they release the new one-or buy them in a collectors pack.

I have never tried macarons, but I have some home right now, maybe will try one tonight :) SHWARMAS are the bomb. I don’t really like wraps because they get messy, so I prefer to order the shwarma plates haha.  A lot of shows ended their season :( So sad.

YAY ASSASSIN’S CREED.  I am in love with that franchise, although I haven’t played the first game because I was told ACII was better.  ACII is definitely my favorite out of that, Brotherhood, and Revelations, but I should probably play the original AC at some point to compare.

I loooove shwarma, especially lamb shwarma, but I don’t eat it here in the US because I find it’s far better in the Middle East (the first time I had it was in Israel) and I don’t like to eat lamb if it’s not AMAZING because it is meat from a baby sheep, after all. :/

Mmm, macaroons! My weakness. :D They’re always so cute and colorful, I just love them. I recently had a customer bring me a variety of some for me and my co-workers. Was so sweet! And they happen to be from the best shop downtown, too. :)

hehe glad your finals are over!! oh man assassin’s creed! my ex and friends love AC but i’m not a gamer, so i can’t exactly relate…but i agree the graphics are amazing! not gonna lie, technology is pretty awesome!!

ugh, MACAROOONSSSS! i keep telling myself to stop by  Laduree sometime when i pass through the city but i keep forgetting BAHH!!

oo i’ve heard of shark tank never actually watched it. i’ve been catching up with episodes of the office hehehe

I’ve done that before too; I bought season 2 of Mad Men instead of season 1. Ahaha, bad analogy. I’m not sure if Assassin’s Creed is something I’d enjoy. I love RPG and fighting such as Legend of Zelda, but I’m terrible at it! I like puzzles too but I end up cheating with walkthroughs. I’m not sure if I’m a great gamer. I’m best at games that have no story at all.

Laduree is still on my agenda but I haven’t had time to stop by. However I did see some macarons at the airport this weekend and they were so expensive! How much was the 24-piece box?

I was so sad when The Big Bang Theory ended. Bernadette actually married him. -/_-

    • http://riyuu.org/ Jenny

I think macarons are expensive in general, but Laduree ones are even more expensive than the average macaron – my 24-piece box costs $64. We were all stunned when we got to the cash register and they told us the price o_o

      • http://ethetica.net/ Liv

0-0 Okay I shall try the $1 for 1 at the airport then ………..

Hello! Yes I’ll be blogging on tumblr now. Thank you for following me, I followed back. I’m still thinking if whether or not I should buy a new domain on that site though.

Anyway, I wasn’t able to watch the season finale of Gossip Girl. Huhu.

Macarons are so yummy! I need to learn to make them myself, but buying the flavouring and colours is super hard. The supermarket here doesn’t have much variety in food colouring.

I miss playing console games. I need to get back on it soon.

Assassin Creed 2 is a good game! I played and beat the game last year. At first, I don’t like because it was rather slow and I started getting bored. After posting on Facebook about how the game is a bit boring, some of my friends (the geeky ones) urge me to play it and be a bit patient. It started to get really interesting once you get to assassinate people!

  • http://www.elocutio.nu/ Aleida

Hehe glad you picked up ACII :D I’ve been a total AC fangirl from the moment I played the original game *sighs* Altaïr is still my fav assassin, but the story arc of Ezio starting in ACII is impressive too. ACII is definitely a good game to start the franchise with though. It inspired me to return to Italy last year and visit Florence, Venice and Rome (again).

Still need to sink my teeth into a macaron :( a local store sells them – so they say – but I never find them instore *grumbles* I do know Shoarma though or Shawarma or uhh hahaha I lol led so hard when they mentioned it in The Avengers!

Oh and a quick sidenote: love the new domain name & layout!

  • http://oh.so-very.me/ Jenny

I love watching Shark Tank. It’s kinda sad to see some people get their dreams crushed though.

And I’ve never played AC, but I do have Ezio as a playable character in SC5 :P I can’t play him to save my life though, but he does have some powerful attacks. Plus his outfit is so damn awesome xD

Ahahaha, that’s really awesome that you got to try Shwarma. The pronunciation of the word, alone, sounds pretty comical as it is. And I’ve been wanting to try it because of The Avengers. They make it looks so good in the last scene. :(

Yurp, thanks to you, I am officially craving for macarons. Sadly, I have only tasted bad macarons here in my area, so I’m definitely macaron-deprived :(

  • http://bumplum.com/ Raisy

I haven’t played either Assassin’s Creed yet, my brother has both but I only got 20 minutes into the first before I realized I had no time to play it! Funny how you accidentally picked up #2 though! That’s amusing.
