Skincare empties #7 feat. My Beauty Diary, Clinique, and vitamins!

Written By Jenny Wu on

Yes, it’s time for another empties roundup! This is proof that in spite of my ridiculous skincare spendings, I really do use up the crap I buy. Anyways, on to the mini reviews of my recent product empties!

  • My Beauty Diary Imperial Bird’s Nest Mask
I will forever love Taiwanese sheet masks because they’re affordable + effective, and this particular flavor is one of my favorites. It doesn’t contain alcohol, parabens, or any other additives that can irritate the skin (except for fragrance, but that’s at the very bottom of the list). Instead it’s full of hydrating ingredients and each sheet mask is dripping with essence. My skin always feels hydrated, brighter, and just overall better when I use this mask.
  • Esthe Dew White Up Lotion
This 500ml toner is very light and contains placenta extract and allantoin to brighten and hydrate your skin. It’s very average as a standalone toner though, but its huge size and reasonable price makes it perfect for lotion masking!
  • Klairs Supple Preparation Toner
I’ve mentioned this so many times I’m sure you’re sick of hearing about it by now. This is an excellent hydrating toner, especially when your skin is irritated.
  • Cow Brand Mutenka Cleansing Oil
I did a full review on this, and in a nutshell, it’s very blah. Glad I’m done with this one and will definitely not be repurchasing.
  • Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream
This was the it skincare product a while back, and of course I joined the bandwagon. It has a stringy texture but isn’t heavy at all. I don’t think it’s as magical as people make it out to be, but it’s still a solid moisturizer.

  • Holy Snails Shark Sauce
The ingredient list is fabulous, but I found it a bit sticky for me, no matter how little I used. It’s great for when my skin was stressed or irritated though, but it’s a bit pricey for the size, so I won’t be repurchasing.
  • Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover
Perfect for removing eye makeup, but that’s about it. I feel silly spending so much on an eye makeup remover, so I won’t be buying the full size.
  • Puritan’s Pride L-Glutathione 500mg
Glutathione is a common ingredient in “whitening needles” that are popular in Asia. A shot of this is supposed to brighten your skin, so why not try it as a supplement? I’m not sure if I got brighter, but I definitely tan a lot slower. I’m on my 2nd bottle from Puritan’s Pride and have been very happy so far.
  • Youtheory Collagen Tablets
Omg I hated these. The tablets are huge, and you have to take 6 a day! I’m usually ok with pills, but this was too much for even me. I switched to collagen powder and have not looked back.

On a personal note, I know I’ve been terrible with blogging, tweeting, instagraming and just being social all around. I actually just started a new job 2 weeks ago, so between being jet lagged and transitioning between my old job and new one, things have been stressful to say the least. Hopefully when this transition phase is over I’ll be back to my usual activity level.

Anyways, hope you guys have a great rest of the week!

Lynda

do you notice any difference with taking collagen?

Jenny Wu

Hi Lynda! Unfortunately I hated those pills so much I didn't take them consistently, so I had no idea if they worked or not. Now that I'm taking collagen powder everyday for a month now, I do notice my skin feels more plump and bouncy if that makes sense. I'm going to give it more time though and will most likely review the collagen powder in the future!

Lucy

The collagen tablets I took after reading one of your earlier reviews, the tablets are huge but they have definitely improved my skin and joint pain Lucy x

That's awesome to hear Lucy! Now that I switched to powder collagen and have been taking it consistently, I too am noticing a difference in my skin :)
